Throughout the whole world the Royal Academy of Dance is unique. Founded in 1920, it has become the largest examining and training body for classical ballet in the world. The syllabus is taught in more than 70 countries, setting high standards of dance training for more than 250,000 children and students each year. An international network of examiners travel the world, examining pupils at every level. And since a syllabus is only as good as the person who teaches it, comprehensive training is also provided for teachers. Your child couldn't be in safer hands All RAD registered teachers must follow the guidelines found in the Academy's Code of Conduct and Professional Practice. The safe and correct training of your child is one of the major concerns of the Academy, which is why the syllabus has been devised with great care. It progresses a child in stages, demanding no more of a young body than it can easily cope with.
Modern Theatre Dance defies a single permanent definition. This is largely due to it's ability to adapt, develop and evolve with the changing fashion in dance. Through a carefully planned and well - tried examination syllabus, which combines modern dance, jazz and other dance styles, young people are trained to become disciplined and versatile dancers who have a professional attitude towards dance. Not only is this syllabus great fun for children to dance, it also helps develop co-ordination, fitness and a sense of rhythm, musicality and expression, as well as promoting self-discipline and boosting confidence.
